Ното, Италия

Noto is a city and comune in southern Italy in the province of Syracuse. Its population is about 25,000 people. Noto is perhaps the most beautiful baroque town on the island of Sicily. The city was rebuilt after a strong earthquake that destroyed it to its foundations in 1693. The city was divided into two parts - southern and northern. The southern part was intended for the patricians, and the northern - for the common people. The streets of the city from above look like a dense network, and on the hills there are palaces built with exquisitely decorated balconies. In honor of Ferdinand II's visit to the city, the Reale Gate was built in 1838, which is in the style of Roman arches. Piazza Municipio is the most beautiful square in Sicily. In the area of the square can be seen the Cathedral from 1776, the Palazzo Ducezio - home of a distinguished aristocratic family, the Church of San Carlo, which was built by the Galliardi in 1730.

The northern part of Noto is simpler. The biggest landmark there is Santissimo Crocefiso. The churches of Santa Maria del Arco and Carmine can be seen along the main street.
